Privacy & cookie policy
What we collect, why we collect it, who sees it and how to get rid of it. In plain English, because a policy nobody can read is not a policy.
Who we are

What we collect when you contact us
This site has two forms, and neither of them collects anything you have not typed in yourself, apart from the last two items in each list.
The enquiry form records:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your phone number, if you choose to give it — it is optional
- The message you write
- The IP address the form was submitted from
- The date and time of submission
The call-back request records your name, your phone number, the time of day you would prefer us to ring, and the same IP address and timestamp.
The IP address and timestamp are there for one reason: this site gets automated spam, and those two fields are how we tell a real enquiry from a bot. They are not used to profile you and they are not passed to anyone.
What happens to it
Both forms send an email to our own mailbox. That is the whole journey — there is no database of enquiries behind this website, no CRM sitting underneath it, and no marketing list that your details are quietly added to.
We use what you send to reply to you and to do the work if you go ahead. We do not sell it, rent it, or share it with anyone for their own marketing. Ever.
If you become a client, the information you give us during the work is covered by the agreement we sign with you rather than by this page.
Cookies and analytics
This site uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages are read. The measurement ID is G-DRCT8MTESD.
Google Analytics sets the following cookies in your browser:

We use this to answer dull questions: which service pages get read, which towns people come from, whether a page is worth keeping. There is no advertising or remarketing on this site, we do not run ad pixels, and we have not linked analytics to any advertising product.
Being straight with you about consent
These cookies are set when the page loads. There is no banner asking you first, which we would rather be upfront about than pretend otherwise, and we say elsewhere on this site that a business running analytics should be asking. We are working on doing what we tell everyone else to do.
In the meantime you can refuse them, and both of these genuinely work:
- Install Google's official Analytics opt-out browser add-on, which blocks it on every site, not just this one
- Block or delete cookies for this site in your browser settings, or use a private window, which starts with none
Nothing on this site breaks if you block them. There is no wall, no reduced version, and no nagging.
The only other cookie this site sets is a session cookie used to protect the forms against cross-site request forgery. It is strictly necessary for the forms to work, it holds no personal information, and it disappears when you close your browser.
Server logs
Like every website, the server records requests it receives, including IP addresses, in its access logs. Those logs are how we spot attacks and diagnose faults. They are kept on our UK hosting, rotated regularly, and not used for anything else.
Why we are allowed to hold it
Under UK GDPR we have to name a lawful basis, so here they are without the padding:
- Enquiries and call-backs — legitimate interests. You contacted a business asking it to get back to you, so replying to you is the obvious and expected use.
- Analytics — legitimate interests in understanding how the site is used. Note the section above: PECR expects consent for these cookies, and we are not currently asking for it, so the opt-out routes above are the honest answer until we are.
- Server logs — legitimate interests in keeping the site up and secure.
Who else sees it
Google, for the analytics described above, as a processor on our behalf. Google may process that data outside the UK, under the transfer safeguards set out in its own terms.
Our hosting provider, unavoidably, because the site and our email run on their infrastructure.
That is the complete list. If a court or the police made a lawful demand we would have to comply, but nobody else gets your details.
How long we keep it
Enquiry emails stay in our mailbox while there is a reason to keep them: an ongoing conversation, a quote you might come back to, or a record of work we did. We clear out enquiries that went nowhere. If you want yours deleted sooner, ask and we will do it.
Analytics data is retained by Google on the retention setting for the property. Server logs are rotated on a short cycle.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict what we do with it, or hand it over in a portable format. You can object to us relying on legitimate interests. You do not have to give a reason and we will not charge you.
Email support@hucknallit.co.uk and we will deal with it within one month. If we get it wrong, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113 — though we would rather you came to us first so we can put it right.
Changes to this policy
If we change how any of this works we will change this page and move the date at the top. There is no mailing list to notify, because we do not have one.
